The first ODI of the three-match series between India and England got underway at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Maharashtra. India is coming into this series on the back of the wins in the Test series and T20I series over England before this.
England won the toss and Eoin Morgan chose to field first, as he was doing in the T20I series as well.
India, on the other hand, announced that two new faces will be making their ODI debuts in this match. Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna and Baroda captain Krunal Pandya received their ODI caps before the toss happened. While this is the first time Krishna is playing international cricket, Krunal has played T20Is for India before.
BCCI shared the video of both receiving their ODI caps, and it contained a heart-touching moment between the Pandya brothers. Krunal Pandya received his ODI cap from younger brother Hardik and Krunal pointed the cap towards the sky in tribute to their late father Himanshu Pandya, who passed away in January due to a massive cardiac arrest.
Later on the video caught Krunal and Hardik in an emotional hug which touched the hearts of many fans and also went viral.
