India batsman Suryakumar Yadav started his international career with a terrific innings against England in the fourth T20I. On Thursday (March 18), he scored 31-ball 57 runs before getting caught out on a controversial decision.
Yadav cleared his intentions from the first delivery he faced in the innings. It was a short ball on leg stump by Jofra Archer and he pulled it comfortably over fine leg for a six.
The knock didn't go in vain as India won the match by 8 runs in a last-over thriller. After the victory, Yadav took to Twitter and wrote, "I prayed for moments like this, what a feeling. #TeamIndia ????????".
Coming in to bat at number 3, the 30-year-old smashed 6 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. His dismissal stirred controversy as the third umpire ruled him out despite it looking like the ball touched the ground in David Malan's hands.
Yadav had made his India debut in the second T20I but he couldn't get to bat in that match. This was his first innings in Indian jersey and he didn't disappoint. He was given the Man of the Match for his knock.
