The pitch for the pink-ball Test between India and England had come under the scanner after the game ended inside two days at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with the hosts winning it by 10 wickets.

England were bowled out for 112 and 81 across the two innings, while India scored 145 in the first essay before chasing a 49-run target without any hiccup.

The ICC, on Sunday (March 14), rated the much-criticised pitch at the renovated stadium as 'average'.

After knowing that the Ahmedabad pitch has earned an average rating, Broad took to Instagram and commented on Wisden Cricket’s post: “Would be interesting to compare what pitches have been rated “below average” in world cricket previously, if any”.

Notably, Stuart Broad was part of the Day-Night Test in Ahmedabad but he couldn’t claim a scalp in the game. 28 of the 30 wickets to fall in the third Test were taken by the spinners.

No wonder, former England cricketers such as Michael Vaughan, David Llyod, Andrew Strauss, Sir Alastair Cook among others had criticized the nature of the pitch.

In fact, Vaughan had slammed the International Cricket Council for “allowing India to produce whatever they wish”.

England were outplayed in the four-Test series. After winning the opening game at Chennai, the visitors lost the next three to concede the series 3-1.
