India opener KL Rahul is going through a tough phase with the bat in white-ball cricket. He failed to open his account for the second time in the ongoing T20I series against England.
On Tuesday (March 16), Rahul was clean bowled by Mark Wood in the third over of India's innings. In the three matches, he has scored 1, 0, and 0 which made him the target of trolls on social media.
India once again lost too many wickets in the powerplay and failed to get a decent start. It was Virat Kohli who scored an unbeaten 46-ball 77 runs while other batsmen struggled. But despite Kohli's late flourish, India managed only 156/6 on the scoreboard which wasn't enough.
England chased down the target in the 19th over with 8 wickets in hand. Their opener Jos Buttler put on a show to take them over the line. He scored 83* runs off 52 deliveries.
This was the second time when India couldn't utilize the powerplay because of top-order failure. While batting coach Vikram Rathour and captain Kohli defended the under-pressure Rahul, the Twitterati were still harsh on the opener.
