India and England are playing the third T20I of the five-match series at the Motera, Ahmedabad. The series stands at 1-1 with England winning the first and India winning the second T20I.
Eoin Morgan, who is playing his 100th T20I, won the toss and chose to field first. In a surprise selection by the Indian team, captain Virat Kohli announced that Rohit Sharma was included in the playing XI, but in place of Suryakumar Yadav.
Suryakumar Yadav had made his much-awaited debut in the previous T20I but didn’t get to bat in the match. Now when he was dropped to make way for Rohit Sharma, instead of KL Rahul, who had made 1 and 0 in the previous two matches, the social media was on fire with Indian fans and cricket experts criticizing the move.
Rohit Sharma made his way back into the Indian team as Virat announced that Rohit and KL Rahul will open the innings. Ishan Kishan, who made a fifty on his T20I debut while opening the innings, was moved to the no.3 spot to accommodate Rohit Sharma.
The cricket experts were surprised and sympathetic towards Suryakumar Yadav on his exclusion from the playing XI but understood the predicament.
However, the Twitterverse was absolutely miffed with Surya’s exclusion and showed their emotions.
