Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra took to his Twitter handle and lashed out the critics against KL Rahul after two back to back disappointing innings against England in the T20Is.

KL Rahul has been one of the mainstay of a Indian batting line-up in T20Is. The 28-years-old is the top ranked Indian batsman in ICC  T20I rankings.

The versatile batsman averages more than 40 in the shortest format at a massive strike rate of 143.66 and can be the big asset for Team India going ahead into the T20I World Cup, set to take place in India later this year.

KL Rahul retains his no.2 spot and Virat Kohli moves to no. 6 in the latest ICC T20I rankings

In the ongoing five-match T20I series between India and England, the swashbuckling opener hasn’t performed upto the standard he has set for himself, scoring only one run in the two T20I games.

However, with Ishan Kishan’s impressive debut and the possibilities of Rohit Sharma returning  to the Indian XI, KL Rahul’s place in the team has been put under scrutiny. Many people criticised Rahul for his back to back failures and feel that the opener should be dropped from the playing XI.

Addressing the same, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra took to his Twitter handle and lashed out at the critics against KL Rahul. He said that there’s no point in asking questions, doubting a match-winner over a couple of failed inning.

“If we start asking questions about a runaway match-winner after just two low-scores, we aren’t going to build a team that’ll win the World Cup. If it’s Rahul today, it’ll be Ishan tomorrow...Pant day after. And then...will have a team of insecure players,” Aakash Chopra tweeted.

The two teams will lock horns in Ahmedabad, behind closed doors at the Narendra Modi stadium, for the 3rd T20I on Tuesday (March 16).
