Rishabh Pant helped India take a 89-run lead and added 113 runs with Washington Sundar | GettyBCCI President Sourav Ganguly couldn’t contain his joy as he praised a superlative knock from India’s Rishabh Pant, whose century has put India in a situation of advantage at the end of day 2 of the fourth Test against England.

The match, which is being played at the Motera, Ahmedabad, saw India resuming from 24/1 and being reduced to 146/6 at one point, losing Rohit for 49, Pujara for 12, Rahane for 27, and captain Kohli for a duck.

But then Rishabh Pant, with help from Washington Sundar, brought India back in the game, as England sniffed a first-innings lead. Pant slammed his third Test century in just 115 balls, with 13 fours and 1 six, hitting a massive six off Joe Root.

He had wrestled the advantage from England bowlers and helped India take an 89-run lead by the end of the day’s play. His knock was full of high octane shots mixed with sheer audacity and brilliance, which saw him hit a reverse sweep off James Anderson.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly called Pant a match-winner for India for years to come and tweeted, “How good is he? Unbelievable..what a knock under pressure...not the first time and won't be the last time..will be an all time great in all formats in the years to come.keep batting in this aggressive manner .thats why will be match winner and special.”
