IND v ENG 2021: Virat Kohli equals MS Dhoni’s record for leading India in most Tests

Kohli has won 35 matches and lost 14 out of 59 Tests he has captained India previously.

As Kohli stepped out for toss in the fourth Test against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium, it became his 60th Test as the skipper of India, and as a result, he equaled Dhoni's record.

In the previous 59 matches, he has captained India, Kohli has managed to register 35 victories and 14 losses. While ten matches have ended in losses for India.

However, despite his record achievement, Virat Kohli lost yet another toss, as England captain Joe Root won the toss and chose to bat first.

We would've batted first too. It looks good to bat on, on Day 1. It's been unbelievable captaining India for so long, and in Tests we have come up the ranks quite well. We look forward to coming together as a side. We have a great bunch of guys who have bought into my vision as captain.

We have to be at our best, and England are a quality side, who have and can put us under pressure. We have to be at the top of our game. Mohammad Siraj comes in in place of Jasprit Bumrah,” Root said at the toss.

On the other hand, England made two changes to their lineup as they brought in Dominic Bess and Dan Lawrence in place of Stuart Broad and Jofra Archer.

This is the 50th Test for Root as England skipper in the longest format of the game.

The four-match series is currently being led by India by 2-1 and the hosts just need to win or draw the final Test to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
