IND v ENG 2021: "Playing for India has always been a big dream," Ishan Kishan on maiden India call-up

The five-match T20I series between India and England will begin from 12th March.

Ishan Kishan, who earned his maiden call-up for Team India, thanked his fans and said that playing for India has always been a big dream for him and to be selected for Team India is a surreal feeling.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (20th February) announced the Team India’s squad for the five-match T20I series against England, which will begin on 12th March in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad. 

The squad saw the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, and Ishan Kishan earning their maiden call-up in India’s 19-member squad.

Ishan Kishan on account of his brilliant performance in the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL), where he scored 516 runs from the 14 matches he featured, was rewarded with his maiden call-up in the Indian T20I squad for a five-match series against England. 

Addressing his selection in Team India, 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan took to his Twitter handle and thanked fans for showing him, love. He remarked that playing for India was his dream and described the feeling as surreal. 

“The last few days I feel overwhelmed with all your love. Your support means so much to me. Thank you for all the kind messages you have sent me. It feels very special. Playing for India has always been a big dream for me and to be selected for #TeamIndia is a surreal feeling,” Ishan Kishan Tweeted

In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, Ishan Kishan recently stole the show as the left-handed batsman scored a stunning 173 runs off 94 against Madhya Pradesh. His knock of 173 runs included 19 boundaries and 11 sixes.
