The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has announced the Team India squad for the upcoming two-Test matches of the four-match series against England to be played at the New Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.
The third and fourth Test matches will be played in Ahmedabad, with the third match being a day-night affair. The new ground in Ahmedabad was made on the site of the old Sardar Patel Stadium and is the largest cricket stadium in the world, overtaking the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with a capacity of 1,10,000 people.
The BCCI has named the same squad which was for the first two Test matches for the next two matches as well. However, there has been a caveat added that fast bowler Umesh Yadav will join the team in Ahmedabad and if deemed fit, will replace Shardul Thakur in the Test squad.
Apart from the main squad, the Committee also picked five net bowlers and two players as standbys. Ankit Rajpoot, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Warrier, Krishnappa Gowtham, and Saurabh Kumar have been named net bowlers.
KS Bharat and Rahul Chahar have been named stand-by players. In addition to this, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shahbaz Nadeem, and Priyank Panchal have been released for Vijay Hazare Trophy.
