India’s newest pace sensation T Natarajan has been released from the Tamil Nadu squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-21 after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian team management asked for the same to keep the latter fresh for the upcoming white-ball series against England.
Natarajan isn’t part of India’s squad for the ongoing four-match Test series, thus he was named in the Tamil Nadu squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting later this month but now the TNCA replaced him with R S Jaganath Srinivas in the 20-member squad.
India is set to play England in five T20Is and three ODIs from March 12, in Ahmedabad and Pune respectively after the ongoing Test series and the team management wants Natarajan to get ready by practicing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for his maiden home series.
Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) secretary R S Ramasaamy told PTI: “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian team management wanted Natarajan to be fresh for the white-ball leg of the series against England. It is in the national interest and so we are ready to oblige. We had named a replacement should he be not available and that issue has been sorted out. We have released Natarajan.”
Notably, Natarajan had become the first Indian cricketer to make his international debut across all three formats on the Australia tour – played one Test, one ODI, and three Twenty20 Internationals.
Noteworthy, it is being said that KL Rahul, who has been drafted into the Test squad is part of the Indian team at the bio-bubble, will be fit for selection only from the third Test against England.
Well, there are no reports about the fitness status of Hanuma Vihari, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami which means they are highly unlikely for the India selection for the last 2 Tests against England.
