England pacer James Anderson is aware of the fact that he might be rested for the second Test starting Saturday, February 13 despite producing a brilliant performance in the first Test against India.

Anderson displayed exceptional skills with the old ball sending the off-stumps of Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane cartwheeling towards the wicket-keeper. He also picked the dangerous Rishabh Pant in the second innings to add to his two wickets of Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma in the first innings.

With England playing more than 15 Tests in 2021, they have instated a rotation policy especially for their pacers to keep them fit and fresh for the entire year. As a result, Anderson might be rested for the second Test and he has no problems with that.

James Anderson said, "When a batsman gets in rhythm and form, they want to keep batting and keep that rhythm going, and it's the same for a bowler."

"You want to keep that going if possible, but I'm very aware that we've got four Test matches in quick succession here and there will probably be a need to rest and rotate. So I'm not assuming anything," he added.

England coach Chris Silverwood gave nothing away about whether there will be any changes in the fast bowling department for the second Test but said that he is not reluctant about changing his winning combination.

Silverwood said, "It is hard (to leave Anderson out), he is a class act. But you'll have to wait and see. I'm not reluctant to change a winning team now if it's the best thing to do for the players, the team, and the longevity of it."
