Veteran English fast bowler James Anderson, on Wednesday, reflected on England’s performance against India in the first Test and said that visitors are trying to develop skills to win anywhere in the world.

England cricket team on Wednesday thumped Virat Kohli-led Indian side in first of the ongoing four-match Test series between India and England in Chennai.

James Anderson lighted up the final day of the Chennai Test as he extracted reverse swing, which troubled the Indian batsmen, and returned with the figures of 3 for 17 in 11 overs in India's second innings to set England on their way to a comprehensive 227-run victory.

IND v ENG 2021: ‘Reverse swing was huge for us’, says Anderson after guiding England to win in 1st Test

While the first Test match between the two nations was played behind closed doors, the second Test, which begins from February 13 onwards, will have a 50 percent crowd in attendance as Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) secretary confirmed last week.

Reflecting on the same James Anderson said that fans coming to the stadium would be great and they will look forward to that.

"The safety around the bubble in the hotel is so strict and I am sure they will take all the right precautions. They are gearing up for the fans to come in which would be great and we look forward to that," James Anderson said during the virtual press conference.

Anderson further praised the team’s complete performance against India in the first Test-match which led them to an impressive win and said that England are trying to develop skills to win anywhere in the world.

"It was a solid performance throughout the five days and I thought it was a complete performance from the whole team. We feel like we are building something and we push each other.

For me, as I get older, I feel like I need to work harder and we are trying to develop skills to win anywhere in the world which you need to do if you want to get to number one which is our goal," he said.

James Anderson, 38, added that he feels like he can still keep improving his fitness, skills and consistency.

"I feel like I am getting better and feel that I can still keep improving. Fitness, skills and consistency is something that I am continuously trying to improve. I cannot see why I cannot keep getting better," he concluded.

With a commanding 227-run victory against India in the first Test in Chennai, England are now straddled at the top of the WTC table with 70.2 percentage points. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli led side have dropped three places to fourth.

Team India can't afford to lose another Test in the series as that will mean conceding their spot in the ICC World Test Championship final and will open up chances for England and Australia.
