Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar compared Virat Kohli’s captaincy style with West Indies legend Vivian Richards and explained how Kohli's never-say-die attitude rubs off on his teammates.

England team on account of skipper Joe Root’s 218 had dominating outing against India in the ongoing Chennai Test as the visitors piled up a gigantic 578 runs in their first innings. 

In response to England's 578, the Indian batsmen struggled to counter England’s bowling attack and were bowled out for 337 on Day 4 of the Chennai Test, conceding a 241-run lead to the visitors.

Even after being dominated by the visitors Virat Kohli’s men came out all guns blazing in the second innings as they bowled out England for 178, setting themselves a target of 420 to chase. 

However, Kohli's decision to hand the new ball to R Ashwin, who on the very first ball of the innings, dismissed Rory Burns, earned him praise from everywhere.

Reflecting on the same former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said that Virat Kohli’s reaction after that first wicket depicts how Team India thinks.

"If you saw Virat Kohli's reaction when they got that wicket just before Lunch, it shows how this Team India thinks,"  Sanjay Manjrekar told ESPNCricinfo. 

Manjrekar further compared Virat Kohli’s captaincy style with Vivian Richards and said that Kohli is always hopeful just like Richards used to be. 

"Especially with Virat Kohli at the helm. Tactically, people have issues with his captaincy, but this is where Virat Kohli is like Vivian Richards, where they are always hopeful. And when a captain believes that you can still make a match out of this one from the current situation," he said. 

Virat Kohli is notably India's most successful Test captain, winning 33 of 56 Tests.
