England captain Joe Root scored a double century against India in the first Test at Chennai and received a warm welcome back into the team hotel.
Root led England's first-innings batting with a brilliant double hundred while no other batsman got to triple figures and helped his team get to a mountainous score of 578 in over 190 overs.
During his innings, he created and broke a few records while equalling Sir Don Bradman's record of scoring centuries in three consecutive hundreds while being the captain of the team.
Joe Root continued his rich run of form after a successful tour of Sri Lanka where he had scores of 228 and 186 in the two Tests. He has now set his eyes on the Indian tour and has shown his determination by becoming the first batsman in the history of the game to record a double century in his 100th Test.
Indians have a custom of treating their guests with respect and the England skipper was at the receiving end of a grand welcome after he completed the achievement against India.
The team hotel made a special cake for Root which he cut as soon as he arrived from the stadium. The official Twitter handle of England cricket posted the video after the event.
