Former New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Mills heaped praise for young Shubman Gill and said that Gill is a visual treat to the eyes, a trait similar to late New Zealand great Martin Crowe.

With only a day remaining for the first match of the four-match Test series between India and England in Chennai, all eyes will be on the battle between two of the best Test teams in the world.

Both the teams are coming into this series on the back of an overseas Test-series wins and will be high on confidence as India beat Australia 2-1 to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy while Joe Root’s England defeated Sri Lanka 2-0.

However, in the recently concluded Test series in Australia, young Shubman Gill impressed everyone with his elegant stroke-play at the top of the order and had a fine start to his Test career, scoring 259 runs in three Tests, including two half-centuries.

IND v ENG 2021: Dominic Cork calls Shubman Gill a "superb young player" ahead of Test series

Reflecting on the same former New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Mills correlated Shubman Gill with Martin Crowe and said Gill is a beautiful player to watch out in the middle.

"Class act, absolute class act. He is the player I love watching best. When I grew up here in New Zealand, there was a very stylish batsman called Martin Crowe, one of New Zealand’s best batters.

"He was lovely on the eye to watch and Shubman Gill is like this. He is a beautiful player to watch out in the middle. I think it's going to be fascinating to see how he builds his international career over the next decade." Kyle Mills said on his Youtube channel.

Apart from Shubman Gill, Mills also applauded Cheteshwar Pujara and said that Pujara is recovered from the beating he took in Australia and added that Pujara will be the one to play out to the new ball and allow the other batsmen to attack from the other end.

"Pujara had a very good series in Australia. I hope he’s recovered from all the bruises that he took on his body throughout that series because Australia really peppered him with the short ball but he is prepared to have a long stay at the crease.

"He is the one, depending on the English combination and what they go for, either Anderson or Broad… he will be the one to take the shine off the ball big time and let the stroke-makers play around him," he concluded.

The four-match Test series will also be crucial in the context of the ICC World Test Championship, as the winner of the series is likely to clash with New Zealand in the final at Lord's ground in England.
