Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad will host 3rd and 4th Test | GCA

Fans will be allowed to enter the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad to attend the third and final Test of the upcoming four-Test series between India and England later this month.

India is all set to host England in four Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIS from February 5 to March 28 with the home campaign beginning with the first Test in Chennai on Friday followed by the second Test at the same venue in MA Chidambaram Stadium from February 13.

Well, the third Test between India and England will be a day-night affair in Ahmedabad, and for the thrilling contest; the BCCI has decided to allow fans to attend the game after the stadiums were allowed to operate at full capacity by the Sports Ministry following COVID-19 protocols last week.

A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official has confirmed to ANI that the fans will be allowed to come in for the upcoming Day-Night Test and final Test match in Motera.

The official told ANI: “Yes, in what comes as a welcome sign for hundreds of our cricket loving fans, they will be allowed to come into the stadium for the Motera Tests.”

Meanwhile, the BCCI official answered in the affirmative on the possibilities of inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first Test match in the refurbished Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad.

On the other hand, the talks between the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and the BCCI are undergoing on allowing 50 percent crowd in attendance for the second Test in Chennai after Tamil Nadu Government has allowed only 50 percent of the capacity at the stadiums.

A senior TNCA official told ANI: “See the new regulations allow for 50 percent fans, so we are going to speak to the BCCI through our secretary and a decision will be reached only after that. But yes, for now, let's wait and watch till tomorrow.”

He signed off, “If we do get the go-ahead, it will only be 50 percent as per the order of the Tamil Nadu government. But a lot will also depend on the BCCI and the ECB. So, we will get an idea on Monday.”
