All England players and support staff have tested negative for the COVID-19 on their arrival in Chennai, India for the four-Test series against the Indian Cricket Team starting February 5 (Wednesday).
The English touring party took a charter flight from Sri Lanka on Wednesday to arrive in Chennai where they underwent COVID-19 testing on arrival at the airport and all returned negative results.
An official confirmed to IANS: “All the tests of English players have returned negative results. The tests will be conducted every third day in the lead-up to the series.”
Notably, India and England both teams had arrived and entered the bio-bubble at the Leela Palace Hotel for the upcoming Test series except Indian captain Virat Kohli who would reach Chennai by late evening.

Well, the teams are not allowed to practice till February 1 as per the COVID-19 protocols until they complete the 6-day quarantine in Chennai.
They can start the practice sessions only on February 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium – three days before the first Test here in Chennai.
Noteworthy, the first two Tests of the four-Test series will be played in Chennai from February 5-9 and February 13-17 respectively and then both teams travel to Ahmedabad to play the final two Tests – the third Test from February 24-28 and the final Test from March 4-8, 2021.
Apart from 4 Tests, India and England will also play 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs from March 12 to March 28.
