Team India has come back from Australia with a lot of injured players that should have been in the playing XI against England in the upcoming Test series. One of those injured members is left-arm all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

He broke his left thumb while batting in the first innings of the third Test against Australia in Sydney.

Jadeja underwent surgery in Australia for the treatment of his left thumb. The surgery went well but he has been advised six weeks of rest before he can make a comeback. After that, he will travel to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehabilitation.

India's Test series against England will begin on February 5, with the final Test scheduled to end on March 8. As a result, Jadeja has been ruled out of the Test series. A decision is yet to be made on whether he will be a part of the 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs that will follow the Test series.

A BCCI official told Indian Express, "He is out of Test series and he will take more than six weeks to recover completely. The selectors will take a call later, whether to include him in the team for the shorter formats."

Initially, Jadeja had been obviously left out of the Indian squad for the first two Tests but now it has been made official that he will miss out on the entire Test series.

The Indian Test players will have to undergo three days of quarantine once they reach Chennai, the venue for the first Test. Post the hard quarantine, players will be allowed to train and use the gym. Players have been asked to reach Chennai on January 27.
