IND v BAN 2019: Sourav Ganguly speaks on the fate of India-Bangladesh series after cricketers' strike

Bangladesh players will not take part in any cricket activity until their demands are met by BCB.

As nearly 50 Bangladesh players went on strike on Monday (October 21), India-Bangladesh series in November seems to be in jeopardy, but the Indian Cricket Board is confident of hosting the scheduled series.

Top players from Bangladesh including Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim have represented their 11-point demand including a hike in salary to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The players also made it clear that they will not return to any cricketing activities until their demands are met. However, U-19 cricketers were not included as they are preparing for the World Cup.

On Monday, newly-elected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has expressed his confidence that the Bangladesh players will sort the issue with the BCB and will come to India for the series next month. Former India captain also insisted that the ongoing issue won’t affect India-Bangladesh series.

Ganguly told media, “It is their internal matter, but they will sort out, they will come.”

Meanwhile, Ganguly was also asked if he would be speaking to the BCB in the capacity of BCCI President regarding the strike, he stressed that it is an internal matter.

He signed off: “It is their internal matter. I speak to the BCB, but this doesn’t come under me.”

Noteworthy, Bangladesh is scheduled to play three T20 Internationals and a two-match Test series in India next month with the first T20I to be played on November 3 in Delhi.
