Australia are facing India in the series-deciding third ODI at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday (March 22).
Opting to bat first, the visitors were bowled out for 169 in 49 overs. Mitchell Marsh was the top scorer with run-a-ball 47 while opening the innings.
During the chase, Australia’s stand-in skipper Steve Smith took a horrible review that left star India batter Virat Kohli and his teammate Marnus Labuschagne in splits.
It all happened in the 10th over of India’s innings when Kohli chased a delivery from Sean Abbott outside the off-stump and most Australian fielders were confident that the batter edged it to the keeper.
Smith opted for DRS but the replays showed that the ball was nowhere close to the willow and the TV umpire didn’t even bother to check the ultra-edge. The Australian captain was left embarrassed after the replay was shown and Kohli couldn’t control his laughter at Smith's decision.
Cricket fans were also left amused by Steve Smith’s decision and they called it “worst review” on social media.
