Australia suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of India in the first game of the three-ODI series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (March 17).
Asked to bat first, the visitors were bowled out for a paltry 188 in 35.4 overs. Mitchell Marsh was the lone fighter with the bat, scoring 81 off 65 balls while batting at the top.
In reply, India were struggling at 83/5 before KL Rahul (75* off 91 balls) and Jadeja (45* off 69 balls) produced responsible knocks to take the hosts over the line with 10.1 overs to spare.
During India’s innings, a video of Australia’s stand-in skipper Steve Smith went viral on the internet, in which he was seen yawning.
As soon as the picture emerged on social media, fans started comparing his action with that of former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was also spotted yawning behind the wickets during a 2019 World Cup match against India.
