India had another tough day in Ahmedabad as Australia dug deep to bat on for most of the second day's play after resuming at 255/4 in the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

The visitors finished their first innings at 480 with Usman Khawaja batting for over 400 deliveries to score 180, while Cameron Green struck his maiden ton, scoring 114 before becoming one of Ravichandran Ashwin's six victims. The Indian off-spinner finished with amazing figures of 6/91 from 47.2 overs with very little help from the pitch.

India's openers, captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, had to bat out 10 overs before stumps, and they did that well to score 36 runs without much difficulty, as the duo took the positive route to tackle the Australian bowlers.

There was an entertaining moment in the final over of the day's play when Shubman jumped down the track to deposit Nathan Lyon for a six over long-on. The ball managed to get lost underneath the white covering sheets for the sight-screen area.

The umpires decided to change the ball with no hope of getting it back after waiting for a while, but one determined fan decided to take matters in his own hands as he went below the covered area to locate the ball but failed at first attempt.

Just when the umpires had finalized on the ball, the fan emerged jubilant with the ball in his hand. In his excitement he almost tripped while throwing it back, and eventually took a tumble but by then he had brought a lot of smiles to the faces of everyone including Shubman as well as the commentators Ravi Shastri and Matthew Hayden, who were in splits as they spectacularly called the moment.
