Amidst the online uproar over KL Rahul’s ongoing struggles with the bat and the Twitter war between former cricketers on whether the opener deserves to be backed this far despite poor form, Harbhajan Singh has asked fans and alike to leave the Karnataka lad alone.
Rahul has made scores of 20, 17 and 1 in the first two Tests and there have been questions raised over his spot in the Indian team in all formats and not just Test matches. Rahul despite scoring just 198 runs in his last 12 Test innings is being backed by captain Rohit and head coach Rahul Dravid.
Multiple former Indian cricketers have shared their opinions on the struggles of KL Rahul, offering multiple advises to the Karnataka batter on how he can become a consistent run scorer.
Now Harbhajan Singh has jumped into the melee as well, asking KL Rahul to be left alone. He also called the right-hander a top player and backed him to make a strong comeback.
“Can we leave @klrahul alone guys ? He hasn’t done any crime. He is still a top player. He will come back strong.we all go thru such patches in international cricket.he is not the first one and last one. so please respect the fact that he is our own player and have faith,” Harbhajan Singh tweeted.
It remains to be seen whether KL Rahul manages to hold onto his spot as the opener for the third Test against Australia which begins in Indore on March 1, as he was relieved of his vice-captaincy status and many speculate that Shubman Gill might get his chance to open with Rohit Sharma.
