The second innings of the Australian team in the ongoing second Test match against India at Delhi was to be a crucial one, as the runs, they would have scored would be the target India would chase in the fourth innings on a crumbling pitch.
Australia resumed day three on 61/1 but then the procession of wickets began thanks to the Indian spin twins Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin. Travis Head (43) was the second wicket to fall, caught by Bharat off Ashwin and then the big two fell.
Steve Smith (9) was out LBW to Ashwin playing the sweep shot, while Marnus Labuschagne (35) was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja as he played back to a ball which kept low.
After them, the majority of the Australian wickets fell playing the sweep shot to balls that kept low and some which spun. Matt Renshaw made 2, Peter Handscomb made 0, Pat Cummins fell for a golden duck, Alex Carey fell trying to reverse sweep and in the end, Australia was bowled out for 113 runs in the first session itself.
R Ashwin picked 3/59 and Ravindra Jadeja took 7/42, his best figures in Test cricket, and completed 10 wickets in the match as well. This left India with a target of 115 to chase in their second innings.
The cricket fraternity was all praises for Jadeja and Ashwin for their brilliant bowling which halted the Australian team for a paltry score and lauded them on Twitter.
