Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who was hit by a Pat Cummins bouncer in Mumbai ODI and didn’t come out to keep wickets, has been ruled out of the second match of the 3-match series. 

KL Rahul kept wickets in his place as Pant had suffered concussion and is yet to recover from its effects. The team has reached Rajkot for the second ODI to be played on January 17 (Friday), while Pant will report to National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for further treatment and rehabilitation following the standard concussion protocols.

He (Pant) is ruled out of the 2nd ODI. His availability for the final ODI will be based on how he responds during the rehabilitation protocol,” BCCI said in a statement. 

After getting hit on his helmet while batting in the 1st ODI, Rishabh got a concussion and took no further part in the game. He was then taken to the hospital for overnight monitoring under a specialist. He is stable and all his scan reports are clear. He has been discharged from the hospital and will head to NCA, Bengaluru to undergo his rehabilitation protocol,” the release further stated. 

His physical condition will be monitored for next 72 hours before taking any further calls.
