Before the start of the 3rd ODI between India and Australia at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, hometown hero MS Dhoni presented the Indian cricket team with special camouflaged caps to honor the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian team donned these special caps to pay tributes to the martyred CRPF jawans of the Pulwama terrorist attacks.
MS Dhoni holds an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army and this act of honor to the armed forces will be followed religiously by the Indian cricket team. The BCCI also announced that from now on, in one international game every calendar year, the Indian team players will wear camouflaged caps to honor the Indian Armed Forces.
“Yes, it is a special cap. It is to pay respect to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack and their families. All the players in the team have decided to donate their match fees of this game to the National Defence Fund,” Kohli said during the toss. He also urged the people of India to do the same and help in the education and well-being of the families and children of those who lost their lives in the attack.
The cricket fraternity applauded this act of tribute from the BCCI and the Indian cricket team on Twitter and here are some tweets.
