With leading Melbourne Renegades to its maiden Big Bash League (BBL) title on Sunday (17th February), Captain Aaron Finch sounded confident ahead of Australia’s limited-overs’ campaign in India.
Australia is all set to tour India for two T20 Internationals and five One Day Internationals starting with the first T20I on 24 February in Visakhapatnam, and Finch has a clear game plan to tackle Virat Kohli-led India Cricket Team at their home in the coming white-ball campaign.
Finch told media after clinching BBL 2018-19 title, “I don't think you need anything to put a pep in your step when you're going on an Aussie tour, particularly to India.”
However, the Aussie skipper has admitted that India is a formidable side at home and are more confident following their recent success against his side, but he is confident of giving a tough challenge to the hosts in the upcoming limited-overs’ series.
Finch signed off by saying, “If you're slightly off the mark you're going to get hurt. They're the best side in one-day cricket in their own conditions, I think. So, you've got to go there full of confidence and have a real clear game plan.”
Meanwhile, India dominated and highlighted Australia's World Cup issues last month by winning the three-match ODI series 2-1, and the tourists will be without Steve Smith and David Warner for the series and Mitchell Starc’s absence make things worse for them ahead of the series.
Now, it will be interesting to see what Finch plot against India to dominant in the series at their own backyard, but BBL win brought enough confidence to the skipper to handle the pressure here.
Noteworthy, Renegades registered a dramatic win over Melbourne Stars led by Glenn Maxwell in the final of the BBL 20-18-19 in Melbourne, as they lost seven wickets for 19 runs in one of the biggest capitulations in Australian cricket history to lose the match by 13 runs here.
