IND v AFG 2018: We learnt a lot from this experience, says Asghar Stanikzai

Asghar Stanikzai feels proud of his team to have reached this far.

Asghar Stanikzai is a confident and inspiring leader. Deep down even he wouldn't have had immense conviction behind it though, when he said that his spinners were better than India's but you wouldn't feel any lack of overempowered emotion beneath how he says anything that he does.

That's how Afghanistan played their maiden Test match. The showed courage, they showed bravery, they exemplified immense love for this game that has driven them to this level. They didn't quite exhibit a lot of Test match temperament and technique but there was certainly a lot of skill, specially when they bowled, and people like Stanikzai know his side has what it takes.

Stanikzai after the game, came out and expressed gratitude towards those who gave his team and his country a chance to play its maiden Test and for welcoming them into the exclusivist club. He said, "First, thanks to BCCI and the Afghanistan Cricket Board to have given us this opportunity"

"We hadn't played a Test match before this and we've learnt a lot. In the future when we play a match, we know now how to play against a full member nation like India. Yes, we were surprised by how quickly things ended because we were a good team. But Test cricket is a completely different ball game, we have a lot of time and we'll work on our weaknesses,"

"A huge thanks to the crowd as well, it felt like we were in Kabul."
