WI v AUS 2021: Twitterati slam Mitchell Marsh for walking off only after WI called for DRS

WI v AUS 2021: Twitterati slam Mitchell Marsh for walking off only after WI called for DRS

Mitchell Marsh had gloved a delivery by Alzzari Joseph to the wicket-keeper but refused to walk off.

Mitchell Marsh's sportsman spirit has been questioned by the fans after he refused to walk on a caught-behind appeal in the first ODI against West Indies. He only started walking after West Indies called for a DRS.

Marsh had gloved the ball down the leg side to the wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran. The on-field umpire Joel Wilson couldn't spot the contact with the ball and he ruled it not-out.

After thinking for a while, Caribbean skipper Kieron Pollard went for a review and as soon as the DRS was taken, Marsh started walking back as he already knew the ball had brushed his gloves.

Marsh was dismissed off 20 runs as Australia scored 252/9 in 49 overs. In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 123 runs and lost the match by 133 runs (D/L) after Mitchell Starc took five wickets.

Twitterati were not happy with Marsh for not walking back to the pavilion before DRS was taken as he was aware of the contact made with the ball. Here is how they reacted to it:
