ENG v PAK 2021: Eoin Morgan lauds ‘incredible’ Ben Stokes and England team for beating Pakistan in ODI series

England leads the 3-match ODI series vs Pakistan 2-0.

England leads the 3-match ODI series vs Pakistan 2-0 | GettyEngland captain Eoin Morgan was all praises for the stand-in captain Ben Stokes and the replacement England team who defeated Pakistan in the second ODI and took a 2-0 lead with one more match to go.

The proper England team was forced into isolation earlier this week after three England players and four members of the backroom staff tested positive for coronavirus. This led to the ECB picking a relatively new squad for the Pakistan ODI series with Ben Stokes asked to captain the side.

The new squad defeated Pakistan in the first two ODIs to clinch the series 2-0. Moreover, with no Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer in the squad, Morgan lavished praise on the England team for their incredible show.

"15 of the current squad in isolation. Buttler and Archer injured. What @benstokes38 and the team have achieved is incredible. Looking forward to watching the next game!," Morgan tweeted.

Pakistan was bundled out for 141 in the first ODI, which England won comfortably by 9 wickets. However, Pakistan did well in the second ODI to keep England to 247 with Hassan Ali taking a fifer. Phil Salt and James Vince scored half-centuries for England.

However, apart from Saud Shakeel, no other batsmen from the Pakistan team managed to do well, as they were bundled for 195 and lost the match by 52 runs. Pak top order was not in good form, as Imam-ul-Haq (1), Babar Azam (19), Fakhar Zaman (10), and Mohammad Rizwan (5) were all sent back cheaply.

Lewis Gregory picked three wickets, while Saqib Mahmood, Craig Overton, and Matt Parkinson took two each.
