Joe Root, a modern-day batting legend for the England National Cricket Team, destroyed the India National Cricket Team in the sixth Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 with his incredible century.
In the series finale of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, the 34-year-old Root played a game-winning knock, once again demonstrating why he is the world's top Test batter. Although Joe Root had a rough start to the series, he continued to improve and finished with an incredible century.
In the last innings of the fifth Test, England was handed a daunting target of 374 runs to chase. Root assumed the role of a senior batter and played a superb knock. He and Harry Brook formed a vital partnership of 195 runs that forced India out of the match entirely, and he continued to bat effectively even after losing Brook.
On the opening ball of the 69th over, he took a double off Akash Deep to eventually reach his century. Reaching the landmark, Root lifted his bat toward the dressing room and removed his helmet.
He then produced a headband and donned it to honor Graham Thorpe in a sophisticated manner by pointing a finger up to the sky. In Test cricket, it was Root's 39th century.

Notably, at the age of 55, the renowned Graham Thorpe committed himself on August 4, 2024, after being struck by a train at Surrey's Esher railway station. He battled anxiety and sadness for a long time before passing away.
On what would have been his 56th birthday, a "Day for Thorpey" was planned during the fifth Test match between England and India in remembrance of him.
