
On Day 2 of the Oval Test against England, Akash Deep was sent in as the nightwatchman. On Day 3 morning, he returned the management's faith by hitting his first Test fifty.
Attacking loose offerings, the right-handed batter played in his natural style. Akash Deep and Yashasvi Jaiswal established a tough century partnership for the third wicket. In the 38th over, he hit a boundary to score his first fifty.
Pointing to the Indian crest, Akash Deep pumped his fist with joy, and then he lifted his bat to acknowledge the crowd. India captain Shubman Gill stepped to the balcony to cheer, and the Indian dressing room was thrilled and gave Akash Deep a standing ovation.
