Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif roasted England captain Ben Stokes and said that he had lost all respect for the all-rounder after his antics on day 5 of the recent Manchester Test against India that ended in an exciting draw.

India had lost 2 wickets in the first over itself as they began 311 runs behind in their second innings, but some spirited batting by KL Rahul (90) and Shubman Gill (103) and their 188-run partnership put India back in the game. England tried to claw their way back in the game with their wickets, but then Washington Sundar (101*) and Ravindra Jadeja (103*) and their 203-run partnership put water on those hopes as India made 425/4 and managed to draw the game.

When the last mandatory hour on day five began, Jadeja was on 89 and Sundar on 80, and that’s when Ben Stokes offered the Indian batters the handshake to end the game in a draw. However, the Indian batters, near their milestone, refused to do so, and the stunned England captain went on a tantrum, arguing with the umpires.

Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Zak Crawley began taunting Jadeja about scoring a century against part-timers and asking them to shake hands and call it a draw in frustration of being made to field over 140 overs. However, Jadeja and Sundar kept their focus and completed their centuries, and only then returned to the pavilion.

Former India star Mohammad Kaif blasted Ben Stokes for his act.   

"Ben Stokes ne Beiizzati karwali (Ben Stokes has lost respect) because of one moment when he wanted to stop the game. Ravindra Jadeja was batting on 90 while Washington Sundar was on 80. You should not have asked to stop the game.

Why would we want to do that? You weren't able to bowl out India, had nearly two days to do that. You weren't able to win. I don't understand what he was trying to do by getting the game to stop," Kaif said in a video on social media.

“Ben Stokes bowled so well, scored a century, and everybody was lauding him. It takes years to earn respect and one moment to lose it. Today was that moment for Ben Stokes when he lost respect,” he added.
