An amazing example of courage was seen when India’s Rishabh Pant came out to bat despite a fractured foot, on the second day of the ongoing fourth Test against England. The match is being played at Old Trafford in Manchester.
Pant hurt his foot on day one, when he tried to reverse sweep a Chris Woakes full delivery. The ball hit him directly on the foot, and Pant immediately began hobbling. As soon as the physio took off his boot, the swelling was prominent, and the injured area began bleeding as well.
He was taken off the field on a medical buggy and was taken to scans by the team management. Later, reports have stated that Pant suffered a fracture to his foot, while BCCI confirmed that he had injured his appendage and wouldn’t be keeping wickets, with Dhruv Jurel taking over.
However, BCCI had also confirmed that Rishabh Pant had joined the Indian team back and might bat if the team needed.
On day two, India lost the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja early, but Shardul Thakur (41) and Washington Sundar added 48 runs to take India past the 300-run mark. Shardul was dismissed by Ben Stokes, and while it was expected that Anshul Kamboj would come out to bat, everyone was left stunned as Rishabh Pant walked out.
Pant gingerly walked down the steps from the pavilion, not putting much weight on his injured foot. He received a huge ovation from the Manchester crowd, with the Indian fans, in particular, clapping for his decision to come out to bat despite the immense pain he had.

The umpires called for lunch as rain began pouring in Manchester with Pant on 39* and Sundar on 20*.
