England pacer Jofra Archer proved to be his team’s main weapon on day 5 as he rattled the Indian batters, picking up two quick wickets. England had set 193 runs for India to win the ongoing third Test at Lord’s and India resumed on 58/4.
KL Rahul on 33* and Rishabh Pant walked out to the crease to begin the day for India. Pant smacked two good looking fours, but was constantly reminded of the pain in his left hand. He looked jittery at the start, but advanced down the track to Jofra archer to hit a four down the ground.
In the same over, Archer decided to bowl a back of length delivery to Pant that was shaped towards the slips. However, the ball kept its line and Pant was late on playing his defensive shot and the ball knocked out his off-stump as Archer and England went crazy. This was a huge wicket for England first up.
Then KL Rahul was dismissed for just 39 runs by Ben Stokes, caught in front LBW, and everything rested on the shoulders of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. Sundar had claimed that India was confident and they would win the game shortly after tea.
He faced off to Jofra Archer and played out 3 balls safely. However, on the fourth ball, Sundar miscued a fuller delivery and the ball went to the right side of the bowler, and Archer dived to take a stupendous one-handed catch. Sundar was out for a duck and India slumped to 82/7.
