The fourth day of the ongoing third Test match between England and India at Lord’s ended on a cliffhanger, with both sides having equal chances of winning the match on the final day.

England, who had resumed on 2/0, were bowled out for 192 runs. India reduced England to 98/4 at lunch, with Siraj, Akash Deep, and Nitish Reddy sharing the spoils. Siraj dismissed Duckett and Pope, Reddy got Crawley, and Akash Deep removed Brook.

After lunch, Root (40) and Stokes (33) added 67 runs before Washington Sundar triggered a collapse, dismissing both set batters and Jamie Smith. Bumrah struck twice, and Sundar wrapped up the innings with 4/22 as England were bowled out for 192.

However, Jofra Archer gave England the best start, dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck in the second over. Then Brydon Carse hurt India with two huge blows, dismissing Karun Nair for 14 and Shubman Gill for 6 runs, both getting out LBW.

KL Rahul, meanwhile, kept one end busy and remained not out for 33 runs. However, the nightwatchman Akash Deep wasn’t so lucky, as he got out for 1 run in 11 balls, being cleaned up by Ben Stokes, as India ended the day on 58/4, needing 135 runs more to win the Test and go 2-1 up in the series.

However, the last few overs were full of excitement as Brydon Carse and Ben Stokes looked for wickets. Carse hit Akash Deep on the pads and immediately appealed for LBW; however, the umpire gave it not out. The review went to the TV umpire, and replays suggested no bat involved, but the ball tracker came out with the umpire’s call despite it clipping the top of the leg stump.

As soon as the DRS was taken, Akash asked for the Indian physio to come out, as the ball had hit the inner part of his right thigh and he received medical attention.

The England players began clapping for Akash and KL Rahul as well, as they recognized that Indians were using the same strategy to waste time as they had the previous day. Ben Stokes and Ben Duckett were seen clapping at the Indian batters in jest, and Rahul replied in kind.
