The on-field incident between England opener Zak Crawley and Shubman Gill in the final over of Day 3 at Lord's has prompted a response from former India coach Ravi Shastri.

Following Crawley's actions on Saturday, which infuriated India captain Shubman Gill, England and India accused one another of rough practice.

After the fifth ball, which seemed to make very little touch with his glove, Crawley twice left his stance and called for the physio to guarantee that there were just six deliveries from Jasprit Bumrah before stumps.

When it became clear that India would not be able to bowl another over before the end, tensions rose.

After a stump microphone captured Gill yelling at Crawley, host broadcaster Sky Sports even apologized live. Ben Duckett, England's other opener, also got involved as Crawley and Gill poked fingers at one another while exchanging foul language.

Ravi Shastri shared his take on the issue and said that it was all for show or Tamasha.

“If I’m wearing the Indian hat, I would have done all that, you know. We call it Tamasha. All that is allowed, you know—on the field of play, you want all that. You can't just have 'good morning, good evening, go home'. A little bit of argy-bargy is okay! As long as you don’t cross the line, I’m okay with all that,” Ravi Shastri told Sky Cricket.

India all-rounder Washington Sundar also delayed play during his batting stint for what seemed to be a comfort break, while England's bowling consultant Tim Southee accused Gill of applying unfair treatment when he postponed the completion of England's innings on Day 2 to get medical attention.

“I'm not sure what they were complaining about when Gill was lying down getting a massage in the middle of the day yesterday,” Southee told reporters after stumps on Saturday.
