On Day 1 of the Lord’s Test against India, England’s ace batter Joe Root was batting on 98 runs when he played a shot on the fourth ball of the 83rd over of first innings bowled by Akash Deep.
Root was desperate to take a couple of runs so that he could reach his century before the end of first day’s play, but he failed in his attempt.
Widely regarded as one of the best fielders of all time, Ravindra Jadeja stopped the ball and playfully teased Root to go for the second run as well to complete his century.
The clip of the epic moment, involving Root and Jadeja, went viral on social media within no time.

Coming to the match, Nitish Kumar Reddy dismissed both English openers, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, in the 14th over before Root and Ollie Pope stabilized the innings.
While Pope was dismissed for 44, Root ended the day on 99 not out, propelling England to 251/4 at stumps. At the close of play, England skipper Ben Stokes was at the other end on 39 not out.
