The opening day of the third Test between India and England at Lord’s saw a fierce contest between bat and ball.
The first day’s action also witnessed an unexpected interruption as swarm of ladybugs invaded the pitch.
Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah appeared visibly irritated as the flying insects hovered around him, forcing a pause in play.
The umpires came together for a discussion as England skipper Ben Stokes was seen speaking to the official as well. Stokes looked confounded by the unusual delay and seemed visibly uncomfortable.
Commentators speculated about the type of insect before cameras revealed that ladybugs were behind the interruption.

Coming to the match, Nitish Kumar Reddy dismissed both English openers, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, in the 14th over before Joe Root and Ollie Pope stabilized the innings.
While Pope was dismissed for 44, Root ended the day on 99 not out, propelling England to 251/4 at stumps. At the close of play, Stokes was at the other end on 39 not out.
