India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah missed the second Test against England at Edgbaston last week as part of his workload management but he is set to comeback at Lord’s.

His participation in the third Test was confirmed by India’s Test skipper, Shubman Gill, during the post-match presentation ceremony at Edgbaston.

In Bumrah’s absence, Akash Deep played the second Test and returned with a 10-wicket match haul, playing a significant role in India’s series-levelling 336-run victory.

Mohammed Siraj too proved his worth with seven wickets in the Birmingham Test, which means Prasidh Krishna will most likely be benched to accommodate Bumrah in the playing XI.

Despite showing improvement in the second innings of the second Test, Krishna has largely proved expensive. Hence, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar is certain that the lanky pacer will not be part of India’s lineup for the Lord’s Test.

“I think it’s clear. Prasidh Krishna has to go out because, in the first innings, he was a bit expensive. Even in Leeds, although he got a few wickets, he really didn’t look like he was going to break through," Gavaskar said on Sports Tak.

So far, Krishna has claimed six wickets from two Tests of the England tour at an abysmal average of 55.17.

Gavaskar explained that while Akash and Siraj have been at their best, Krishna has struggled with his length.

“With Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, you’ve seen the number of top-class deliveries that they’ve bowled. And they might not have gotten wickets – the batters played and missed, and the ball rapped them on the pads. It has to be Prasidh because his length wasn’t quite right. I believe he will make way for Bumrah," Gavaskar remarked.
