Arshdeep Singh tweaked Mohammed Siraj’s viral ‘I only believe in Jassi (Jasprit Bumrah) bhai’ remark after the latter claimed a six-wicket haul (6/70) on Friday (July 4) to put India in the driver’s seat of the ongoing Edgbaston Test against England.
Leading an inexperienced pace attack in the absence of Bumrah, Siraj ripped through England's top order, reducing them to 84/5 before a stunning 303-run partnership between Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184*) brought the hosts back into the game.
However, Siraj returned with the second new ball to wipe out the tail, ending England's innings at 407 in reply to India’s 587. This was his third five-wicket haul in Tests, and came at a time when the touring side was seeking brilliance from one of its bowlers.
After the day’s play, Arshdeep intervened in Siraj’s post-third-day interview with the BCCI, saying that there was a change in the famous on-liner and it was now, ‘I only believe in myself and Jassi bhai’.
Notably, Siraj made the viral statement after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 Final win over South Africa in Barbados. Bumrah brought the Men in Blue back in the contest when the Proteas needed 30 runs off the last five overs and eventually ended India’s 11-year-long wait for an ICC title.
Sharing his emotions after the triumph, Siraj remarked, “I only believe on Jassi bhai, because game-changer player he is, only one guy – Jasprit Bumrah”.
Arshdeep felt it right to repeat that one-liner when Siraj led India’s attack with aplomb in Bumrah’s absence at Edgbaston.
“Bhai, dialogue change," Arshdeep said. “I only believe in myself and Jassi bhai. Aaj se dialogue change hai. Plan mein halka sa change hai, (The dialogue has been changed, there has been a slight change in plan) — I believe in myself and Jassi bhai!" he added.

Coming to the Edgbaston Test, India ended the third day at 64/1, extending their lead in the second innings to 244 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (28) was the only dismissed batter, while KL Rahul (28) and Karun Nair (7) remained unbeaten at stumps.
