During India's net session in Birmingham a few days ago, a video of Team India's pacers Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep grappling with bowling coach Morne Morkel went popular on social media.
At Headingley, the team lost by five wickets without Arshdeep and Akash Deep in the starting lineup. Left-arm bowler Arshdeep explained the meaning behind the images in a video that the BCCI shared.
“Morne ne bola tha ki jaise hi tumhara session khatam ho jaaye, to main hamesha last move karunga, main tumhe pin out karunga aur uske baad koi practice nahi hogi (Morne had said that the moment our practice session ends, he will have a last move and he will pin me. Thereafter, there will be no practice),” said Arshdeep in a video by BCCI.
“Usne koi naya tareeka dhoonda hai din call off karne ka, aaj woh wahi karke dikha raha tha (He has found a new way to call off the day and he was just showing us that),” he added.
India lost at Headingley from a dominant position, dropping them to a 0-1 deficit in the five-match series. On the last day, England successfully chased down 371 runs, and India lost the first Test by five wickets. In Birmingham, the second Test will start on July 2.
