Rishabh Pant on Monday (June 23) created history by becoming only the second wicketkeeper in history to score a century in both innings of a Test match. He achieved the feat on Day 4 of the first Test against England at Headingley.
The southpaw joined Zimbabwe legend Andy Flower in the elite list, who had achieved this feat against South Africa at Harare in 2001.
Pant followed up his brilliant 134 in the first innings with an entertaining 118 in the second essay, coming at a time when the visitors were in trouble after losing captain Shubman Gill early on Day 4.
With the match evenly poised, the left-hander displayed his class once again and helped India take control of the match alongside KL Rahul.
Pant reached his eighth Test hundred off 129 balls. Unlike the first innings, there was no somersault celebration this time around.
As Rishabh Pant did not pull off his trademark celebration, it caught a few by surprise, including the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.
In fact, Gavaskar requested him to do it, gesturing with his hands, but Pant refused while signalling that he will do it next time.

During his entertaining knock, Rishabh Pant was involved in a 195-run stand with KL Rahul, who scored a ton of his own. The duo helped the tourists extend their lead to 304 runs with six wickets in hand at Tea on Day 4.
Rahul (120*) will resume batting for India in the third session, alongside comeback man Karun Nair, who failed to open his account in the first innings.
