India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant etched his name in history books as he slammed his second century of the ongoing first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds.
The southpaw became only the second wicketkeeper batter in the history of the game to score twin centuries in a Test match. He joined Zimbabwe legend Andy Flower in an elite list, who had achieved this feat against South Africa at Harare in 2001.
Pant also became the seventh Indian to accomplish this milestone. Earlier, he scored a magnificent 134 in the first innings and recorded his seventh Test ton, thereby becoming the India wicketkeeper with most centuries in the longest format.
Following his hundred in the second innings, Pant now has eight hundreds in the Test format. His innings was once again an edge-of-a-seat thriller for the fans as he reached the three-figure mark off 130 deliveries.
Rishabh Pant was eventually dismissed in the 72nd over by Shoaib Bashir for 118 off 140 balls. He was severe on all kind of bowlers as his knock featured 15 boundaries and three sixes.
During his entertaining knock, Pant was involved in a 195-run stand with KL Rahul, who smashed his ninth century in Test cricket in the second innings at Headingley. The duo helped the tourists extend their lead to 303 runs after 74 overs.
Cricket fraternity was effusive in praise for Rishabh Pant’s batting heroics at Headingley for the second time in three days.
