The first Test match between India and England is presently taking place at Headingley in Leeds, with Jasprit Bumrah spearheading the bowling attack. In the first innings, the 31-year-old fast bowler claimed five wickets for 83 runs.
According to his own admission, Bumrah, the top Test bowler in the world, will only play in three of the five games in the current series. Which two Test matches Bumrah will miss in the current Indian away series is still up in the air.
However, ex-India cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Cheteshwar Pujara made a special request to Bumrah's wife, Sanjana Ganesan, on Sunday, June 22, after being amazed by Bumrah's incredible display with the ball during the first innings of the Leeds Test.
The duo asked Sanjana to convince Bumrah to play all five matches in the ongoing series for the Shubman Gill-led side.
“I have a request for you (Sanjana). You will have to convince Jasprit to play a few more games. Just try. You are the one who can convince; we leave it to you," Pujara said on Sony Sports Network.
“There is a gap. See, there is an eight-day gap, so the next Test is not a problem, and then after that it is Lord’s; you can’t miss Lord’s. After that, again, there is an eight-day gap. Then comes Manchester. In Manchester, the ball will do all kinds of things; whether it is April, May, June, July, August, September, October, or November, the ball will swing in Manchester. So in Manchester, he has to play. Then at The Oval, it is just five days, so all five Test matches. I hope he is watching this. Basically, Jasprit, we need you. Please play all five Tests," Gavaskar made a passionate plea as well.

In another video, Sanjana is seen delivering the message to Jasprit Bumrah himself. After listening to Sanjana’s replay of Gavaskar and Pujara’s request to play all five Tests, Bumrah had an amazing answer.
He said: “That is a conversation that we will have on another day, Thank You.”
