Former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik was all praises for India pacer Jasprit Bumrah after his 5/83 helped the visitors keep England to 465 and helping India take a 6-run lead in the ongoing first Test of the five-match series in Leeds.
This was his 14th fifer in Tests and 12th outside India. Veteran batsman-wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik praised the pace spearhead on Instagram and specifically urged the BCCI to do more. Karthik wasn't holding back when he emphasized Bumrah's significance to Indian cricket, calling him a "national treasure."
“There should be a separate contract for Bumrah — not Grade A, B, C or D — but something more than that! Whenever India needs a wicket, he delivers. He’s chalk and cheese above most bowlers. It’s his mind more than anything that just ticks as he knows how to pick up wickets,” Karthik said in a video on his Instagram account.
Karthik reminisced about his early impressions of a timid, youthful Bumrah at the Mumbai Indians and was astounded by the bowler's incredible ascent to the top of the world rankings.
“When I first saw him at MI a young, thin, so shy and today, just look at him. India needs to wrap him in cotton wool, take care of him. He needs to be there in all the big matches because when he’s there, the bowling attack looks completely different,” Karthik added.

There is only one Jasprit Bumrah, therefore Karthik's demand for a "special contract" feels more pertinent than ever as supporters wait for another Bumrah special as India defends any target they set.
