On Day 2 of the first Test match against England, Indian cricket team wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant was spotted having a humorous conversation with Ravindra Jadeja, displaying his greatest sense of humour.
India had previously amassed 471 in their opening innings thanks to hundreds from Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. With Ollie Pope still undefeated at 100, England responded by making 209/3 at stumps on day two.
While Jadeja was bowling, Pant was heard saying one of his trademark one-liners in a video shared by Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter). Pant had to jump to correctly gather a wide ball that Jadeja had delivered down the leg side.
Pant was left amused by the delivery as he shouted towards Jadeja: ‘Mai bhi khel raha hu bhai, apne chauke ke chakkar mein mera chaukka mat dedena' (I am also playing, brother. In order to not go for a four, don't give send me for a four)".
Later in the video, skipper Shubman Gill could also be heard addressing Jadeja during his over. He told him to stick to his plan since Ben Duckett was becoming perplexed by Jadeja's deliveries.
Gill said: ‘Abhi ye pura confused hai Jaddu bhai, kaunsi seedhi hai aur kaunsi udhar. Aayega iska!' (Now he's completely confused, Jaddu brother, he doesn't know which one will turn. He'll get out soon!)'.
Here is the video:
Jasprit Bumrah rattled England with 3/45, but Pope and Ben Duckett added 122 runs for the second wicket to bring some normalcy into England's innings. Duckett fell for 62, but Pope went on to make his 9th Test century just before stumps.
