The second day of the ongoing first Test between England and India, being played at Headingley, Leeds on June 21, 2025, saw Rishabh Pant reach his much-deserved century.
India resumed on 359/3 with Shubman Gill on 127* and Rishabh Pant on 65*. Both the batters started cautiously and managed to keep themselves grounded as the England bowlers tried to take advantage of the new ball and the early morning help.
But once that died down, Gill and Pant, in particular, began taking on the bowlers. Pant neared his century and somehow managed to keep his sanity and not go for big shots. But then on 99, he took on Shoaib Bashir and hit a one-handed six to complete an amazing century.
He celebrated by taking off his helmet and acknowledging the Indian dressing room. He then did his trademark somersault and hugged captain Shubman Gill at the other end. This was Rishabh Pant’s 7th Test century and 4th against England.
