Yashasvi Jaiswal advised Shubman Gill of his unsteady running style during the first Test match between England and India at Leeds on June 20. He also requested the Indian skipper to remind him not to take a chance. On the opening day of the first Test, Jaiswal struck an incredible 101 against England.
India swiftly lost KL Rahul and Sai Sudharshan as the first session came to an end, but Jaiswal and Gill put up a 129-run partnership just after lunch. Throughout their partnership, the pair played intelligent cricket, and their loud shouts to one another and their rushing between the wickets were two of its most notable aspects.
Jaiswal instructed Gill to say "no" loudly to stop him from rushing because it was his habit to do so as soon as he hit the ball, according to a social media video.
"Haan, haan bolte rehana bas. Meri aadat hain aage jaane ki. Haan bas nahi nahi. Mereko zor se no boldo. Meri aadat hain lekein. (Please keep telling me. It's my habit to move ahead. Just tell me loudly no, but it is my habit.)," said Jaiswal to Gill.
In one amusing instance, Jaiswal was upset to see Gill yelling "no" loudly because he thought there was an easy run.
"Arre aajao yaar. Bhaiyya year," said Jaiswal.
